I think we have a similar perspective on the importance of building dashboards that are visually appealing.
I’ve seen a pattern across dozens of data visualization projects: dashboards that aren’t visually appealing get used less and are less likely to get buy-in from leadership.
Color can be a great tool to make things more visually appealing and, as you mentioned, it’s a great way to differentiate and categorize data.
I’ll be posting more examples and go into a bit more depth on the techniques I use to make dashboards that grab an audience’s attention.
